Being diagnosed with diabetes has been on the incline for many years, with today’s numbers being the highest. It has been reported by the ADA (American Diabetes Association) that nearly 26 million adults and children have been diagnosed with a form of diabetes in the US. With the current trend in numbers it has been reported that 1 in 3 people in the year 2050 will be diagnosed with this disease. Diabetes is the cause of death for 71,382 Americans per year with reports showing it as the leading cause for heart disease and stroke, and elevating the death rates to about 2 to 4 times higher than those adults who do not have diabetes.
Though diabetes has been on the rise, many of these diagnosed cases can be prevented through a healthy change in lifestyle. It is also possible to reverse this diagnosis through such a change. It is important to take preventive steps and measures to control diabetes. Eating healthy is an important part of such a healthy change in lifestyle, including eliminating sugar laden desserts and foods from a diet plan. However this does not mean you have to deprive yourself.
